WeaverStory.com, which started as an initiative to preserve & promote Indian handloom and bring timeless treasures from the heart of the country. WeaverStory.com is a reservoir of finest weaves from Banaras, Chanderi, Gujarat, Bengal, Maheshwar and Kanchipurum with an exquisite range of sarees, lehengas, dupattas, suits, and fabrics.
The brand is working to revive the complex weaving techniques like the baluchari, shikargahs, kadhwa and jamdani weave and fabrics woven with design repertoire from floral motifs to animal images, on drawlooms used in the courts of Mughal India and Iran, extinct since the 19th century.
The brand was established on National Handloom Day on 8 August 2015, and in a very short span has the trust of customers across 20 countries. It was founded by a young trio who spent many years in corporates with Fortune 500 companies and became evangelists of handlooms and crafts through their journey of many craft clusters of India.
Weaverstory.com is determined to make handcrafted as an organized market, where there is economic sustenance for the craftsmen while ensuring genuine and best showcasing of products for the discerning customer. The latest is the hand embroidery collection with a range of dupattas & lehengas.
The label has chosen to work with master craftsmen and has researched to create weaves from Museums & archieves in Gethua, Double weave Brocade, and Dampaj to name a few.
The brand has also conducted educational tours for groups connecting them to grassroots. They work with upskilling and technical education on weaves so that the same heritage passes from one generation to another. This is helping the next generation in appreciating handlooms.
The label is also giving women in small communities the opportunity to put their skills to use and earn a living. They provide them with skill education through different workshops on sari finishing, tassel making, and ensuring they become financially stronger and independent. WeaverStory is on a mission to revive the Indian handloom industry and celebrate the craftspeople of the country.
