Bollywood has been involved in a number of scandals and controversies, some of which have remained hidden from public view while others have made their way into tabloids, magazines, and the internet. Actress Mona Singh was embroiled in a similar incident a few years ago when an MMS depicting her became popular across internet platforms, only to be found afterwards that the tape had been significantly altered. It was a hot subject at the time, and her ex-boyfriend Vidyut Jammwal was probed about it, prompting him to strike out violently.
Mona is well known for her role in the television drama Jassi Jaissi Koi Nahin, following which she appeared in a number of prominent Bollywood films. In 3 Idiots, she portrayed Kareena’s pregnant sister, while in Kehne Ko Humsafar Hain, she played a female lead. She will soon be featured in Aamir Khan’s Laal Singh Chaddha, which will be released this year following a protracted pandemic-related delay.
Mona Singh became a huge topic of controversy in 2012 after an altered MMS video of her went viral out of nowhere. According to an IANS report, when her then-boyfriend, Vidyut Jammwal, was asked about the video during a media encounter, he quickly shut off the reporter with a proper response.
“I believe men like you encourage such behaviour. People like you talk about and notice these things. Vidyut Jammwal stated, “Indian males should not promote vulgarity in any form.”
Mona Singh had also spoken up about the event in a chat, saying, “It’s utterly awful that anything like this has happened.” Someone has gone to the trouble of grafting someone’s face onto the body of someone else. This could happen to any innocent girl if it happened to me. I’m delighted I’m a star who can speak to the press. Only the media will be able to assist me in getting out of this.”
