On Wednesday, Tiger Shroff will turn 31 years old. On March 2, 1990, the actor was born to Ayesha Shroff and actor Jackie Shroff. He is recognized for his action scenes and dance abilities. His parents called him Jai Hemant Shroff when he was born, but he became known in the film business as Tiger. In an earlier interview, the actor explained how he got to be recognized by this unique name rather than his real name, Jai.
Tiger explained that his nickname came from people comparing him to a tiger due of his tendency of biting. “I used to bite as a youngster… like bite everyone around,” he admitted.
The actor revealed that one of his victims was a teacher from his school. “I bit my instructor at school and got penalized for it,” he recounted.
Tiger’s uncommon moniker prompted him to help the animal after whom he was named. In 2014, the actor adopted Lee, a tigress from Nagpur’s Maharajbagh zoo, whom he met while promoting Heropanti alongside Kriti Sanon at the time. He explained his choice to adopt Lee by using a famous Spiderman line: “With tremendous power comes great responsibility.”
While many anticipated him to follow in his father’s footsteps and enter Bollywood, the actor said that he initially intended to pursue a different professional path. “I was more into sports… football was my favourite,” he explained, “but even as a child, I knew I was being observed… my father’s colleagues would keep talking about seeing me in Bollywood eventually.”
Tiger made his Bollywood debut with Heropanti in 2014, and he is now filming the sequel to the action picture. He will star alongside Tara Sutaria in Heropanti 2, which is set to hit theatres on April 29.
