K-pop is popular music originated in South Korea. The term K-Pop includes multiple music styles and genres from around the world, such as rock, jazz, folk, EDM, hip-hop and classical on top of its traditional music roots. The H.O.T. was first K-Pop idol group to exist which made its debut in 1996.
BTS
Who doesn’t know BTS? The band also known as Bangtang Boys and is very popular for their music. This group has seven members Suga, V, Jimin, Jungkook, Jin, J-Hope and RM. BTS was the first K-pop group who performed at the American Music Awards and won a Billboard Music Award. Some of them are composers, rappers, vocalist and main dancers of BTS. BTS was the first band to cross 10 million followers on twitter after a South Korean act.
EXO
EXO, the band was formed by S M entertainment in 2011 and debuted in 2012 with 12 members. Later on, the band divided into two sub-groups EXO-K and EXO-M.The band ranked as one of the top five most influential celebrities on the Forbes Korea Power Celebrity list from 2014 to 2018 and widely known as the”Kings of K-pop” and the “Largest boyband in the world” by various media outlets. EXO band have performed over 100 concerts and won various music awards.
BLACKPINK
BLACKPINK is South Korean girls’ band formed by the YG Entertainment and debuted in 2016. The band includes four members: Jisoo, Jennie, Rose, and Lisa. BLACKPINK is also known as superpower in the K-Pop industry. BLACKPINK is the highest-ranking female Korean act on the Billboard Hot 100, and another collaborated with Selena Gomez “Ice Cream” (2020), and on the Billboard 200, raked at the no. two with The Album (2020), Earlier this year, their music track “How You Like That” broke records of the most viewed music video on YouTube.
SEVENTEEN
SEVENTEEN is a group of 13 members S. Coups, Jeonghan, Joshua, Jun, DK, Mingyu, The8, Seungkwan, Hoshi, Wonwoo, Woozi, Vernon and Dino. The band was formed by Pledis Entertainment and debuted in 2015. This group is separated into the three teams Vocal, Hip-Hop and Performance. Besides singing, they are involved in composing and producing their own choreography and song writing. Their recent single “Don’t Wanna Cry,” has received huge popularity among audience. SEVENTEEN is also known as SVT and “self-producing” idol group.
MONSTA X
Monsta X is another South Korean band formed by Starship Entertainment and debuted on 14th May 2015 with their first album “Tresspass”. It is a group of seven members: Minhyuk, Shownu, Wonho, Hyungwon, Kihyun, Joohoney, and I.M. “The Clan”, this was their first studio album which took the number one place on Billboard’s World Albums in the US. According to the rumors, Wonho decided to leave this group. In February 2020, they have released their first English album, All About Luv, which was ranked on number five on the US Billboard 200.
