The movie 12th Fail is creating waves since its OTT release. The plot revolves around Manoj’s tryst with destiny from being a 12th fail to an IPS officer.

Directed by Vidhu Vinod Chopra this is a straight forward story of a 12th fail student who through sheer perseverance goes on to crack the UPSC exam. The movie is based on the real-life story of Mohan Kumar Sharma, a best-selling book by Anurag Pathak.

Starring Vikrant Massey as Manoj, the tale is one of struggle of a man who takes up low-lying jobs at a tea-stall, then at an atta chakki and cleaned toilets too. The movie emphasizes that we can ‘restart’ our lives at any point of time. The film takes us through the loopholes in our education system where a school in Chambal openly makes the kids cheat in their board exams, so that they can pass class 12th and earn a livelihood for their families. The DSP Dushyant Singh pays a visit and urges the children to follow the right path.

The following year the DSP is transferred and the whole class passes with 1st division except Manoj who gets a 3rd division. With a runtime of 147 minutes, the movie is an inspiration to watch. Not a dull moment, not a sermon, just true facts of life and learnings.

The movie brings home the struggles of a student’s life and where our education system fails. Do watch it!
