Shakti Kapoor: It’s unfortunate that only the bad parts of the film business are addressed

Shakti Kapoor, an actor who has spent nearly five decades in Bollywood, says that the negative narrative about the Hindi film business affects him. In fact, he claims that he has only seen individuals here stand by and assist one another.

“I have observed this film business for many years and can claim that it is the best.” Film business ki baare mein log bahut negative bolte hai. There are always individuals who will advocate for you. Negative cheese baahar aati hai, yeh cheez baahar nahi aati. But that is not the case. “It’s unfortunate that only the bad parts of the film industry are highlighted,” he complains.

Using his own experience as an example, the 70-year-old argues that despite being a nobody from Delhi, he was only able to establish a name for himself here because people were receptive to new performers.

“I was constantly surrounded by wonderful people. In Bollywood, I didn’t have any dada, chacha, or mama to help me. I met Feroz Khan (actor) early in my career and quickly became his favourite. Then, Sunil Dutt (actor) believed in my talents and hired me. Not only that, but he named me Shakti. Sunil is my birth name,” Kapoor admits.

He is now pleased to see his children, actors Shraddha Kapoor and Siddhanth Kapoor, succeeding in their careers and receiving awards on their own merit.

“Shraddha is a major star, and Siddhanth is on his way to becoming a big star.” My children make me very proud. People compliment my daughter, and I am overjoyed. She’s been working hard in these Covid-19 times, and even Siddhanth is kept busy. “I consider myself fortunate to have had this profession and this personal life,” he says.
