Initially set for January 31, the music award ceremony date is moved to April 3. The awards function will be held in Las Vegas for the first time this year. As per the reports, organizers postponed it indefinitely due to the Omicron variant.
The 64th annual Grammy, featuring nominees including Justin Bieber, Billie Eilish and Olivia Rodrigo, the show will now take place at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas.
Previously, the show had been set to take place on January 31st in downtown Los Angeles, but organizers decided to move the date as the Omicron variant sparked a new wave of COVID-19 infections.
“We are excited to take the Grammys to Las Vegas for the very first time, and to put on a world-class show,” Recording Academy CEO Harvey Mason Jr said in a statement.
Jon Batiste, the jazz and R&B artist and bandleader has gathered the most nominations for this year’s Grammys. Hosted by Comedian Trevor Noah, the show will be televised and streamed live from the MGM Grand Garden Arena.
