I wanted to be a part of fantastic storytelling that OTT programs have to offer- Shreya Dhanwanthary

Why Cheat India was Shreya Dhanwanthary’s Bollywood debut, partnering Emraan Hashmi. The actress received praise for her assured performance. And before long, she began landing roles in various web shows – at a period when OTT material wasn’t quite as popular as it is now.

“It wasn’t about taking a dive into the OTT world,” Shreya says of her path with episodes like Scam 1992, The Family Man, and others, which have landed her roles in films like R Balki’s Chup and Sabbir Khan’s Adbhut. It was all about being a part of some amazing storylines and portraying compelling characters, both of which the OTT programmes provided in spades.

Naturally, as more and more performers from other streams and businesses join the area, the playground has begun to take on a more appealing appearance. The more, the better! What I like best is that there are no clear lines anymore; it’s all reduced down to a tale. It’s no longer about who can tell this tale, or how and where they can tell it.

I hope that these borders continue to dissolve and that individuals are able to collaborate across mediums and platforms. It’s so much nicer when you don’t have to wait in queues. I am really grateful for the opportunity to be a part of the worlds created by artists such as Hansal Mehta, Nikkhil Advani, R Balki, and Raj & DK. I’m a softie, but these geniuses know how much I admire them. I’m just thankful for where life has taken me.”
