With this week’s global premiere of the super-antihero movie Black Adam, Dwayne Johnson will join the DC Extended Universe. The action extravaganza has received its first reviews, which describe it as “neither the best, nor the worst.” The general impression is that the movie is action-packed and entertaining, and Dwayne Johnson makes a memorable debut in the superhero genre, but it lacks substance and might quickly get monotonous.

The genesis tale of DC’s well-known antihero Teth Adam is told in Black Adam (played by Dwayne). The figure is a well-known adversary of Superman and Shazam in the comics. The movie portrays him as a mistreated, enraged man who seeks retribution via devastation and violence. Earth puts together a ragtag group of heroes known as the Justice Society in an effort to stop him. The performers that play Doctor Fate and Hawkman, respectively, Dwayne and Pierce Brosnan, and Aldis Hodge, have received positive reviews.

Dwayne Johnson receives acclaim from Tessa Smith of Mama’s Geekly, who writes, “(He) gives one of his greatest performances. He gave this part his all-out effort. “Johnson maintains up his captivating screen presence as he lands old-fashioned one-liners and savage action all with total emotion,” continues Ben Rolph of Discussing Film. Other actors are also praised in Sheraz Farooqui’s Cinema Debate assessment. “Brosnan is a natural in the part of Fate, and it’s surprising that he wasn’t cast in a heroic role sooner. In the movie, Hodge is just as fantastic,” it says.

Based on 62 reviews, Black Adam currently has a ‘rotten’ rating of 55% on the review aggregate website Rotten Tomatoes. This suggests that generally speaking, critics have not been kind to the movie. On October 20, Black Adam, a film directed by Jaume Collet-Serra and starring Sarah Shahi, Noah Centino, and Marawan Kenzri, will be released in India.
