The world premiere of Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, produced by Disney and Marvel Studios, took place on Wednesday night in Hollywood. Wakanda Forever’s official review embargo will be lifted on November 8; however, social media’s early reaction embargo will be lifted following the film’s screening.
Wakanda Forever, the 30th feature film in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, is a sequel to Ryan Coogler’s 2018 blockbuster Black Panther and was written and directed by him. The first Black Panther film generated $1.35 billion in box office revenue, became a cultural sensation, and received an Oscar nomination for best picture.
The epidemic and Chadwick Boseman’s terrible and unexpected death, who played T’Challa/Black Panther in the MCU, have both delayed the release of the much-anticipated sequel to Black Panther. Boseman lost his fight with colon cancer on August 28, 2020, after a prolonged, personal battle that lasted more than four years. Boseman’s sickness was unknown to Coogler and Marvel Studios head Kevin Feige, who had already planned the sequel with the actor as its focal point. “I spent the last year preparing, picturing, and composing words for him to say, that we weren’t destined to see,” Coogler said in his tribute to Boseman.
Lupita Nyong’o, Letitia Wright, Winston Duke, Danai Gurira, Florence Kasumba, Angela Bassett, and Martin Freeman are among the returning cast members of Wakanda Forever. Tenoch Huerta as Namor and Dominique Thorne as Riri Williams/Ironheart will make their MCU debut in the movie.
On November 11, Black Panther: Wakanda Forever will be released in theatres. The sequel, which has a two-hour, 41-minute running time, will be the second-longest MCU film after Avengers: Endgame.
