We have all heard the phrase, ‘well begun is half done’ and this movie is impressive yet imperfect at the same time.

The movie holds our attention from the very beginning where in we are touched by the helplessness of a sister searching for her lost brother. Set in Kolkatta, and inspired by true events, Lost narrates the story of a young crime reporter, who is married but lives with her grandfather. In the thick of an investigation, Isahaan goes missing and Yami discovers the involvement of a girl Ankita Chauhan, who was in love with the missing guy and is working hard at winning an MLA’s seat.

The first half hold the audience, but the plot loses its grip in the second half. There are several highs and lows in the story and the momentum breaks. The script lacks finesse yet the acting stands out. Yami Gautam’s acting is perfect, and she plays out her role wonderfully. This Zee5 release is a movie full of political and police corruption, marital disputes, caste, journalistic ethics and more.

Pankaj Kapur plays the role of a wise grandpa and lifts up the screen other than Yami. Aniruddha Roy’s Choudhary’s ‘Lost’ is promising in parts but there are several loose ends. A journalist pursuing a missing man’s case like a detective, has us all confused. Lost is a germ of an idea waiting to be found.
