Manushi Chillar is an Indian actress who rose to fame with her modelling career and won the 2017 Miss World pageant. She also was the sixth Indian to be crowned Miss World. She made her debut with the movie Samrat Prithviraj opposite Akshay Kumar but the movie fared badly at the box office.
Looking back, she shares she learnt a lot from the film and felt some people even liked it. She states, “As an actor, you can give your best and still the result is out of your control. You can’t control the audience. But since it was my first film, I did feel a tad bit of loss.”
When interviewed by the Hindustan Times, the actress opened up about the common notion that pageant winners can’t act. On the contrary, she said that some of the most famous Bollywood actresses such as Aishwarya Rai and Priyanka Chopra have been pageant winners.
Manushi Chhillar also shared her experience of being at the Cannes Film Festival this year. She felt walking the red carpet, meeting such lovely people and wearing such a lovely dress, was a wonderful experience. She feels, “We have to glamourize events to have people talk about them. Fashion has become such a big part of everyone’s life, not just actors. Fashion is expression. As an actor, if your film is showcased, you want to promote it to your capacity. Film festivals have a lot of different aspects.”
She feels the world of cinema is a big cultural shift. Manushi is very excited about hosting the 2023 Miss World pageant in India.
