On social media, a video of a monkey’s priceless response after seeing a zoo visitor’s magic performance has gone viral.
Maximiliano Ibarra originally shared the video on TikTok. He was seen in the video performing some easy magic tricks for the monkey at Mexico City’s Chapultepec Zoo.
Ibarra reached out with what seemed to be a leaf to the monkey, a Japanese macaque, who was sitting close to the enclosure’s glass front.
When Ibarra used a hand technique to make the leaf “disappear,” the monkey sprang forward open-mouthed and wide-eyed.
Ibarra then made the leaf return and then vanish, stunning the monkey. The primate was spotted with its palm over its face and glancing over its shoulder, as if trying to see whether anybody else had witnessed the miracle. The video has gone viral on social media, putting netizens in a state of shock. “I could binge watch animals reacting to magic feats for months,” one user commented. “What kind of wizardry is this?” said another. According to a third user, “He has the sweetness of a kid. It’s so human.” Another was added, “That’s adorable. The monkey’s reactions are amusing.”
