Bae Suzy is allegedly returning to television with a part in Netflix’s upcoming Korean drama The Girl Downstairs (working title).

Bae is set to play in the lead role of Netflix’s upcoming K-drama series The Girl Downstairs, according to Sports Chosun yesterday (March 10). Lee Jung-hyo, who directed Crash Landing on You and Criminal Minds, is rumoured to be directing the drama.

Bae’s management company, Management Soop, then issued a statement to Newsen, claiming that the singer-actress had received an offer to feature in the programme and is presently “revewing,” as Soompi put it.

The Girl Downstairs will be based on Min Song-Naver ah’s webtoon of the same name. The original webtoon follows Lee Doo-na, a former K-pop idol who finds up living with Lee Won-joon, a college freshman.

Lee Doo-na, the lead singer of the fictitious girl group Dream Sweet, unexpectedly announced her retirement. Instead, the former idol resumes her education as a theatre and film student at Minsong University. It’s unclear whether the Netflix adaptation will follow the same premise.

If Bae accepts the job in The Girls Downstairs, it will be her first television appearance since her performance in tvN’s Start Up two years ago. Along with Jung Eun-chae (Pachinko) and Kim Joon-han, the former Miss A member will appear in a new Coupang Play series tentatively titled Anna (Hospital Playlist).

Last month, the South Korean singer-actress returned to music with the release of the track “Satellite.” Bae’s first music project in over four years, since her solo mini-album ‘Faces Of Love,’ was released in 2018.
