Actor Sonali Bendre has spoken out about OTT platforms, claiming that they have given actors a “second innings.” In a new interview, she also stated that individuals in the film industry can no longer have a casual attitude owing to OTT platforms. She also talked about her co-star Aamir Khan and her flick Sarfarosh. She further stated that when filming Sarfarosh, she’missed the opportunity’ to learn from Aamir.

John Matthew Matthan wrote, produced, and directed the action drama Sarfarosh (1999). Naseeruddin Shah, Aamir Khan, Sonali Bendre, and Mukesh Rishi are among the cast members. The film was nominated for a National Film Award and the Filmfare Critics Award, as well as being exhibited at the India International Film Festival.

Sonali remarked in an interview with Film Companion, “I’d want to be working right now. It’s a lot of fun for me. I’m no longer an unintentional actor. This is something I’ve decided to do. I’m no longer excused if I don’t get it correctly. I had a good time doing Sarfarosh with Aamir. During Sarfarosh, I missed the opportunity to intentionally learn from him.”

She also mentioned, “We would not have had a second innings if OTT platforms had not arrived. That “chalta hai” (casually stating everything’s fine) mentality can no longer be sustained, and I believe it is the finest thing that has occurred to our industry.” Sonali also discussed her battle with cancer. ‘Having a scar, losing my hair,’ she explained, taught her recognize that ‘beauty is never flawless.’

With The Broken News, Sonali is ready to make her OTT debut. She will take on the character of Awaaz Bharati journalist Amina Qureshi. Sonali will be joined by Jaideep Ahlawat and Shriya Pilgaonkar on the show.

The series depicts the rivalry between two Mumbai-based news channels: Awaaz Bharati, an independent, ethical news station, and Josh 24/7 News, which specializes in sensationalist and intrusive reporting. The Broken News, directed by Vinay Waikul, is set to premiere on Zee5.
