Aruna Bhatia, the mother of Bollywood actor Akshay Kumar, died on Wednesday morning. The actor returned to India from the United Kingdom after his mother became ill and was admitted to Mumbai’s Hiranandani Hospital’s ICU. And now, after the death of Akshay’s mother, he has taken to Twitter to express his grief.
Akshay tweet reads, “She was my core. And today I feel an unbearable pain at the very core of my existence. My maa Smt Aruna Bhatia peacefully left this world today morning and got reunited with my dad in the other world. I respect your prayers as I and my family go through this period. Om Shanti.”
As soon as the post surfaced online, well-wishers and fans expressed their condolences in tribute to the actor’s late mother.
On Tuesday, Akshay took to Twitter to ask fans to pray for his mother’s health. He penned, “Touched beyond words at your concern for my mom’s health. This is a very tough hour for me and my family. Every single prayer of yours would greatly help.”
Akshay, who was in the UK filming Cinderella, returned to Mumbai on Monday morning to be with his ailing mother, who had been admitted to the hospital.
On the work front, Akshay was most recently seen in the spy thriller BellBottom, which was the first major Bollywood film to hit theatres following the second wave of the Covid-19 pandemic. Vaani Kapoor, Huma Qureshi, and Lara Dutta also appeared in the film. Sooryavanshi, Atrangi Re, Prithviraj, Bachchan Pandey, and Raksha Bandhan are some of Akshay’s upcoming films.
