Kandahar, directed by Ric Roman Waugh, is based on true events and is based on the experiences of a former military intelligence officer of the Defense Intelligence Agency in Afghanistan. Gerard Butler, who plays the lead in the film, is one of Hollywood’s most well-known actors. He is best recognised for his role as King Leonidas in the film 300, but he has also appeared in Reign of Fire, Machine Gun Preacher, and the Olympus Has Fallen trilogy.
Ali has a supporting role in the movie, according to Deadline. Ali has worked in Hollywood before, appearing in Victoria & Abdul alongside Judi Dench and in a minor appearance in Furious 7. In Death on the Nile, based on Agatha Christie’s novel of the same name, he will star alongside Kennath Branagh and Gal Gadot in an ensemble cast.
