Netflix’s latest show ‘Rana Naidu’ is trending the top ten shows on Netflix. I tried to watch it for the wonderful star cast but I couldn’t get by the first few episodes.

The web series is an adaptation of ‘Ray Donovan’, the American TV series and is full of crime, politics, celebrity scandals and use of power. It revolves around ‘Rana’ who is like the ‘guru of solving problems.’ A devoted father and a good husband to Surveen Chawla, Rana has several secrets that create a rift in his marital bliss.

From Bollywood celebrities to cricketers, the only man who comes to their rescue when in a problem is Rana Naidu. Things take a U-turn when his father, Naga Naidu is released from prison. The audience will be surprised to see Venkatesh, who is know for his endearing family dramas, play a shady role and mouth such abuses.

Surveen Chawla, has performed a brilliant role as Rana’s wife. Abhishek Banerjee plays an important role as Jaffa. Director Suparn Verma and Karan Anshuman, have tried to create a series that will keep the interest of the audience piqued yet I feel the series fails to deliver in many ways. With a lack of emotional content and the hurricane of abuses, the series was tough to get by. The adult content makes the series difficult to watch with family.

The only thing worth mentioning is the performances and the actors fit in their roles like a fish takes to water. It’s a dark series. Enjoy it if you like the genre.
