Anupam Kher, an actor, claims that the Hindi film industry is presently going through a transitional era because the post-Covid movie-going public can see through movies they see as “false.” It is time for artists to halt and “rethink” how they want to go, according to the actor, who has been in the business for close to four decades and has been in more than 500 films.
Only a few Hindi movies have performed well at the box office this year, with major names like Aamir Khan, Ajay Devgn, and Akshay Kumar performing poorly, including Kher’s The Kashmir Files, Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2, and Brahmastra.
“For us, it’s a good churning. We need to reassess. Each person has had their own tragedy, pain, and anxiety. They won’t like anything phoney today, therefore. The audience will connect with a movie if it is done honestly and from the heart. Additionally, they saw a lot of international film during these two years. They have a choice now.”
Kher used his own movie Uunchai as an example, claiming that the trailer earned positive reviews overall. Among others, Amitabh Bachchan, Boman Irani, and Parineeti Chopra appear in the forthcoming film directed by Sooraj Barjatya.
“Today, a bad remark is left on every post. However, I didn’t come across a single criticism of Uunchai. Nobody ever penned the phrase “Ye teen buddhe kya karege” (What will these three old men do in a film). This is the film’s authenticity, which has been communicated. “Ye bande sahi hai” is understandable by most people (These guys are nice). This is instinctive.”
In addition to dealing with a weak box office, the Hindi film industry frequently faces online criticism. Intense internet criticism was faced by Aamir’s Laal Singh Chaddha, Ranbir Kapoor and Alia Bhatt’s Brahmastra, and Akshay Kumar’s Raksha Bandha. When questioned if he believes there is a lot of negativity in the profession, Kher responded, “I don’t think. At the conclusion of this tremendous churning time, Hindi film will prosper.
