When one thinks about Neetu Kapoor, they are grace, dignity, and vivacity. She hasn’t appeared on television in a long, but Raj Mehta’s Jugjugg Jeeyo marks the end of that wait as Neetu shines on screen with her dance prowess, smiles, and grace. She portrays the mother of Varun Dhawan, who is unaware that her husband, Anil Kapoor, is trying to get a divorce.
Neetu, who dominated Bollywood in the 1970s, had generally avoided acting in movies after she wed Rishi Kapoor in 1980, with the exception of a few appearances. With her magnificent public appearances, poised speech, and ability to put an end to rumors, she was able to maintain her status as a celebrity.
In 1966, Neetu, just six years old, made her acting debut in the movie Suraj and rose to fame as “Baby Sonia.” It’s thought that Vyjayanthimala noticed her and called the director’s attention to her. She portrayed Roopa in the comedy Dus Lakh by Devendra Goel two years later (1966). She made her name in the film business with Do Kaliyaan (1968), in which she portrayed the dual part of twins who reconcile their separated parents. It was a remake of the Tamil film Kuzhandaiyum Deivamum and was influenced by The Parent Trap. It was directed by R Krishnan and S Panju (1961). She also appeared in Waaris and Pavitra Paapi as a kid actor.
She landed her first leading role in Rickshawala with Randhir Kapoor at the age of 15. Despite the failure of the movie, Lekar Hum Deewana Dil from Yaadon Ki Baarat quickly gained popularity. They later became a well-known Bollywood on-screen couple because to their on-screen chemistry in movies like Rafoo Chakkar and Khel Khel Main, and they went on to feature in over 11 movies together. Deewar, Kaala Patthar, Amar Akbar Anthony, and Kabhi Kabhie were, nevertheless, her most notable songs of the time. Within a decade, Neetu became a Hollywood sensation, starring in more than 70 movies and producing some classic successes as the lead actor.
Since 1983, Neetu has only made a small number of appearances, such as in the Rishi Kapoor-starring films Love Aaj Kal, Besharam, and Jab Tak Hai Jaan. Neetu Kapoor has always stated that Jugjugg Jeeyo assisted her in getting back on her feet and overcoming despair after Rishi Kapoor’s passing. Neetu said to Indian Express that getting back in front of the camera wasn’t quite simple.” It is not my cup of tea, I don’t want to do it, I don’t want to go on set, I was so stressed, I’d tell a buddy when we were halfway through the movie. But now that I’m feeling lot better, I want to work harder.
