Akshay Kumar has kick-started the shooting for his upcoming film ‘Raksha Bandhan’ with director Anand L Rai. Akshay took to social media on the first-day shoot, to share a special post for his sister, Alka Hiranandani. In his post, the actor shares, his sister was his first friend and therefore he wants to dedicate the film to her.

He took to Instagram and shared a BTS pic of himself with Anand L Rai and captioned the pic as, “Growing up my sister, Alka was my first friend. It was the most effortless friendship. @aanandlrai’s #RakshaBandhan is a dedication to her and a celebration of that special bond. Day one of the shoot today, needs your love and best wishes.”

Akshay Kumar recently announced Bhumi Pednekar onboard as the female lead in the film with a happy pic of the two actors with the director. He wrote, “When you are happy, it shows And indeed we are to have @bhumipednekar onboard #RakshaBandhan @aanandlrai #HimanshuSharma @cypplofficial @zeestudiosofficial #CapeOfGoodFilms #AlkaHiranandani @kanika.d #SirfBehneDetiHai100PercentReturn.”

It was a month earlier that the makers of the film announced Bhumi Pednekar’s association with this film. She will be seen sharing silver screen space with actor Akshay for the second time after the film, ‘Toilet: Ek Prem Katha’ in 2017.

The female lead Bhumi too shared the same pic on her Instagram account and wrote, “A very special film and a very special reunion. Am supremely excited to be collaborating again with two of my favorite creative powerhouses & humans. Am full of gratitude to be a part of this special, heart-touching story,” she captioned the image.

About the film

The film Raksha Bandhan was announced in 2020 on the occasion of Raksha Bandhan. As the name suggests, the movie revolves around the bond of brother-sister.

The film is helmed by Aanand L Rai and bankrolled by a Colour Yellow Production in association with Cape of Good Films. The film is written by Himanshu Sharma and Kanika Dhillon.
