Happy Birthday Aamir Khan: From ‘Qayamat se Qayamat Tak’ to ‘Laal Singh Chadha’

Mr Perfectionist of Bollywood, Aamir Khan has turns 56 today, is known for experimenting with his looks quite often on screens. Through his career in Bollywood spanning over 30 years, Aamir earned the title of “Mr. Perfectionist’ and is known to be ‘Tom Hanks of India’.

One of the most versatile actor of Bollywood never fails to impress the audience- be it a full-fledged lead role or a cameo role in a movie. The multi-talented actor even turned director for a movie ‘Taare Zameen Par’.

From an alien (PK) to a college student (Rang De Basanti), from a cop (Talaash) to a wrestler (Dangal), the actor has covered a fair amount of cinematic spectrum in his almost three-decade career.

  1. Lagaan (2001)

This critically acclaimed movie, is considered to be one of the best performance of Aamir Khan. He being in the lead role, his character ‘Bhuvan’ was responible forputting together a cricket team and teaching them the game. 

2. Dil Chahta Hai (2001)

Aamir as ‘Akash’ in Dil Chahta Hai was a carefree, sometimes irresponsible boy among the trio in the movie. This movie changed the narrative in Hindi cinema. Aamir took a four-year break after the film from Bollywood, following his divorce from his first wife Reena Dutta. 

3. Daljit or DJ in Rang De Basanti (2007)

The actor played a young 25-year-old character while he was in his 40s. In the movie who agrees to act in a British film student’s documentary about India’s freedom fighter. 

4. Raancho in 3 Idiots (2009)

This movie will live in our memories forever, especially the character of Raancho and his iconic phrase, “Aaal Izz Well”. As a college student, he was curious, free and thoughtful which showed us that it’s okay to question things. Te character made us rethink the way we approach education.

5. An Alien in PK (2014)

One of his most bizarre characters, he played a humanoid alien in the film. Being a complete outsider, he raised questions about the way humans live and the concepts humans have created such as languages, religions, customs, attire and beliefs. 

The actor was also in movies like, Andaz Apna Apna (1994), Jo Jeeta Wohi Sikander (1992), Sarfarosh (1999),Fanaa(2006), Ghajini (2008), Talaash (2012), Dangal (2016), Secret Superstar (2017) to name a few.

Talking about the upcoming projects, Aamir Khan will be seen in Laal Singh Chadha, which is said to release later this year, also starring Kareena Kapoor Khan and Mogul said to be released in 2022.
