Music composer Shravan Kumar Rathod passed away on Thursday evening (April 22) at 9:30 pm at Raheja Hospital in Mumbai. The 66 year old musician was critically ill after he was tested positive of novel corona virus on April 19 and was on ventilator support.
Anil Sharma, film director, took to twitter to confirm the news of musician’s demise and wrote, “Very very sad.. just came to know about the great music director #shravan he left all of us.. due to covid.. very dear friend and colleague of mine, worked with him in #maharaja Always gave great melodies.. my deepest condolences to his family. He will always remain in our hearts. RIP.”
Shravan Kumar Rathod who was born into a family with a musical background has two singer brothers Roop Kumar Rathod and Vinod Rathod. The music composer is survived by his wife and two sons Darshan Rathod and Sanjeev Rathod
Shravan Kumar Rathod is popular music-composer and is a member of the famous duo of the music-directors, Nadeem-Shravan. The music director duo was very popular in the 90’s era. Their album, Aashiqui released in 1990 became the best selling bollywood soundtrack of all time and their success helped establish the music label T-series.
Nadeem- Shravan composed soundtracks for many Hindi films namely Saajan, Phool Aur Kaante, Sadak, Deewana, Dil Ka Kya Kasoor, Hum Hain Rahi Pyar Ke, Rang, Dilwale, Raja, Barsaat, Agni Sakshi, Jeet, Raja Hindustani, Sirf Tum and many more.
The duo Nadeem- Shravan got split in the year 2005. Nadeem started his own label and started selling perfumes and bags under his label. While, Shravan focused on the music career of his son Sanjeev- Darshan and movie production.
