Bangtan Boys, also known as BTS, is a popular K-Pop band with a global fan base. South Korean idol group BTS has tasted international success, with their last three English-language singles topping the Billboard Hot 100 chart at No. 1. However, among the other members Jimin, a member of BTS has opened up about the emotions he felt while performing in a stadium without fans.
Since the outbreak of the pandemic, BTS members have been stationed in South Korea. Last April, the band announced plans for a world tour. However, they were forced to postpone it before cancelling the tour entirely.
Despite their inactivity, BTS has hosted a few online streaming concerts in the last year and a half, which includes Bang Bang Con: The Live in 2020 and Muster Sowoozoo 2021, this year. Despite the fact that this virtual concerts cheered up their fans, but Jimin admitted that performing in a stadium with no people was difficult and painful. Speaking with Billboard about the same, Jimin said, “It was nerve-wracking when we were waiting for the curtain to rise, but when we went onstage, there were just a lot of video cameras in the place the audience was supposed to be. I know I should be grateful for the chance to perform at all, but it was painful.”
Other BTS member including RM went on to say that their energy had been ‘sapped’ and their morale had been ‘killed.’ Meanwhile, Suga also revealed of being ‘very pensive lately.’
The members of the group also admitted that one good thing that pandemic has brought to them is ‘relaxation’ that they have received in ten years. RM said, “For the first time in maybe 10 years, we kind of have a clear line between work and life,” to which Jim also added saying, “That’s probably the only good part.”
Despite being unable to tour, BTS released a number of new songs during the pandemic. This features three English tracks—the Grammy-nominated Dynamite, Butter, and Permission to Dance—as well as their album BE, which includes songs like Life Goes On and Telepathy.
