BTS has once again topped the Billboard Hot 100 songs chart.  Along with their new single “Permission to Dance”, BTS have replaced themselves at the top spot. Their own “Butter” now falls to No. 7. The Kid LAROI and Justin Bieber debut on the Hot 100 at No. 3 with “Stay.”

Apart from being available as a digital single, the song was an additional track on the “Butter” CD. BTS also dropped a music video for “Permission to Dance” on July 9. Billboard reports that the song “drew 15.9 million U.S. streams and 1.1 million radio airplay audience impressions.  Also, the song sold 140,100 downloads in the week ending July 15, according to MRC Data.”

Within a span of ten months and two weeks, BTS achieved five chart-toppers.  This is the fastest time since Michael Jackson did within nine months and two weeks in 1987 to 1988.  The septet is the first group to replace themselves at No.1 since Drake in 2018.

“Permission to Dance” also gives Ed Sheeran his fourth No. 1 hit as a songwriter. His earlier hits were “Shape of You,” “Thinking Out Loud,” and Bieber’s “Love Yourself.”

Besides the Hot 100 chart, Permission to Dance has also debuted at No. 1 on Billboard Global 200 chart. BTS thanked its fanbase ARMY for the success of its latest single.
