Dance With Me, Zee Café’s first original production, returns with a second breathtaking season. Shakti Mohan and Mukti Mohan’s reality show recently premiered which brings to you the best dancing maestros, as well as never-before-seen performances, to your television screens. And now, speaking to Pinkvilla during an interview, the sisters have opened up about the show and how real the reality shows are. Speaking about the same Shakti said, “I think it’s absolutely real. When people say it’s all scripted I don’t get it. I’ve been a part of this world and reality shows for 10 years now, and I don’t understand what part of it people say is scripted, planned or this is not the reality. This is very much reality.”
Shakti went on to say that people have their own biased thoughts, making the reality programme appear to be staged solely like it’s all planned just because they were not chosen. “You come prepared and perform on the stage, and now how can we plan this. It’s your talent which will speak on television, and nobody else can support. From our side, we can choreograph, can make their costumes, can polish them, and prepare them for this field, but beyond that what else can we do? I meet a lot of people in this industry who are not selected and are like, ‘oh you know this was planned’ and ‘they did this on purpose’. For those people I just want to say, you work hard and don’t make up these stories. If you would have been selected then you would have never spoken like this.”
Further, Mukti spoke about what she feels regarding show producers cooking up stories to gain audience attraction. She said she sometimes feels it is too much. Being a member of five or six reality programmes, however, she has always seen the realism component of it as the talent, a genuine story, genuine hardships, and only succeeding if you deserve.
Lastly, Mukti added that She truly believes that whatever shows she has seen, she has fully experienced the reality side of them, taking home either memories, prizes, or learnings, and that is how all have arrived, she believes.
