Following the UK libel case ruling, Johnny Depp won a huge victory over ex-wife Amber Heard when her request to dismiss his USD 50 million defamation claim against her was denied. , According to the reports by Hollywood, The move to dismiss Heard’s case was denied by Fairfax County Chief Judge Penney Azcarate, and the case will now go to trial next year.
Earlier, Depp sued a UK tabloid over an article, which called him a “wife beater.” After multiple long trials which lasted for weeks, Judge Andrew Nicol declared that Depp had lost to the tabloid after finding the truth to the article in The Sun, notably with relation to 14 incidents that occurred throughout the turbulent marriage.
Amber Heard’s team viewed the libel case loss as a huge victory for her, and she filed a request asking the Virginia court to dismiss Depp’s defamation action against her. According to the reports by Deadline, Depp’s lawyers expressed their satisfaction with the Court’s ruling, saying, “Mr. Depp is most gratified by the Court’s decision.”
Although Johnny Depp complains that Hollywood is boycotting him, but a Virginia judge gave him a significant victory in lawsuit against Amber Heard. This isn’t the first time, earlier before this win, a New York judge granted him the permission to investigate whether Heard donated a portion of their USD 7 million divorce settlement to the ACLU or not , as she claimed.
