Dilip Kumar death news: Akshay Kumar, Sanjay Dutt, Amitabh Bachchan, and other celebs mourns the demise of legendary actor

Today, everyone’s morning started with the unfortunate news of veteran actor Dilip Kumar passing away at the age of 98.

The sad news of his demise was confirmed by his family friend Faisal Farooqui on the actor’s official Twitter handle. Faisal tweeted, “With a heavy heart and profound grief, I announce the passing away of our beloved Dilip Saab, a few minutes ago. We are from God and to Him, we return.”

Soon as the news broke out several fans and the Bollywood film fraternity including Akshay Kumar, Ajay Devgn, Amitabh Bachchan, Sanjay Dutt, and others offered their condolences on social media. 

Akshay Kumar took to Twitter and wrote, “To the world, many others may be heroes. To us actors, he was The Hero. #DilipKumar Sir has taken an entire era of Indian cinema away with him. My thoughts and prayers are with his family. Om Shanti.”

“Shared many moments with the legend…some very personal, some on stage. Yet, nothing really prepared me for his passing away. An institution, a timeless actor. Heartbroken. Deepest condolences to Sairaji. #DilipKumar” tweeted Ajay Devgn.

Megastar Amitabh Bachchan tweeted, “An institution has gone .. whenever the history of Indian Cinema will be written, it shall always be ‘before Dilip Kumar, and after Dilip Kumar’…My duas for peace of his soul and the strength to the family to bear this loss .. Deeply saddened…”

Actor Riteish Deshmukh shared a set of pictures on Instagram and wrote, “Every actor that faces the camera today will thank Dilip Sahab for being their teacher. Truly an institution. Am completely heartbroken today, will miss his pat on my back, his smile with a twinkle in the eye, and fond kisses on my forehead. Dilip Sahab- you will always be the king amongst kings. Greatest of all times. You were a hero to every generation. Rest in glory Sir. My deepest condolences to Saira Ji, the entire family, loved ones, and millions of fans across the globe.”

Shahid Kapoor posted, “We are all nothing but versions of you Dilip Saab. Every actor has studied you in awe. Wondering how you did it all. You were as close to PERFECT as it can get. As you return to your spiritual home. The prayers of millions are with you. Thank you for giving us all you did. And sharing your enlightened soul with us through all your breathtaking performances. You will live on forever sir. You are TIMELESS. Rest in peace.”

“So many special moments with Dilip Saab… he was like a father figure in my life. A huge loss for the film fraternity and for all of us, we have lost a legend today. My deepest condolences to Sairaji, may God give her strength in this tough time,” posted Sanjay Dutt.

Madhur Bhandarkar Tweeted, “Saddened to know about the demise of Dilip Kumar sir, One of the greatest actors and doyen of Indian Cinema, a Legend. He inspired generations of actors and will always be missed. RIP.”

Actress Nimrat Kaur took to Twitter and wrote, “Rest in the highest realms of glory Sir….thank you for driving our cinema towards the echelons of excellence. #RIPDilipKumar.” 

“Saddest day of my life.  Dilip saheb Yusuf Bhai, gone My personal loss of my most precious idol. No words RIP SAHEB,” tweeted Subhash Ghai.

A slew of other celebrities also paid their condolences on the passing away of the legendary actor. 

Dilip Kumar was admitted to the Hinduja Hospital, Khar, Mumbai, on June 30, after complaining of breathlessness.

A statement was issued on his behalf on Twitter, read as: “Dilip Saab has been admitted to Hinduja Hospital, Khar to address medical issues related to illness which are frequently expected in a 98-year-old. Your love and prayers are truly appreciated by Saab.”

His career spans over five decades with blockbuster films like Mughal-e-Azam, Devdas, Naya Daur, Ram Aur Shyam to name a few. His last silver screen appearance was in the film “Qila” in 1998.
