The Emmy Awards 2021 took place recently on September 19 in Los Angeles. The evening was star-studded, with a slew of big celebs being honoured with the coveted Television Academy Award. Actor Jason Sudeikis also took home the award for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Comedy Series for Ted Lasso, among others.

Sudeikis wore a velvet tuxedo as he approached the stage to accept the award, and he gave a heart touching speech in which he also thanked his children, Otis and Daisy. He started his speech by saying, “Thank you very much. So…heck of a year.” Adding further, Jason said, “I would say this show is about family, this show is about mentors and teachers this show is about teammates and I would be here without those three things in my life. First off I want to thank my folks Dan and Kathy, I want to thank my sisters Kristin and Lindsay. I want to thank my sisters that have been chosen outside of biology, like Rachel. I want to thank my children Otis and Daisy.”

Sudeikis also made the audience laugh when he made a joke about SNL creator Lorne not being present during his speech because he was taking a “dump.” The actor also expressed gratitude to his writing team, saying that he is only as good as they make him appear.

Ted Lasso big win definitely made his night at the Emmys 2021 more memorable, Hannah Waddingham and Brett Goldstein also took home the Supporting Actress and Actor honours. The show also won the award for Outstanding Comedy Series.
