The outbreak of novel corona virus is highly impacting the entertainment industry. The Bollywood industry is suffering from last year as the theatres across the country were shut immediately. Social distancing has become a norm and the effect has serious implications on the entertainment industry. Even after the theatres are opened across the country with 100% seating capacity from February 1, the makers of films are postponing the release of big budget films due to the rise in the cases.
Here’s the list of the films which are postponed for further release in theatres:
Chehre
The psychological thriller film ‘Chehre’ starring Amitabh Bachchan as a lawyer and Emraan Hashmi as a business tycoon was scheduled to release on April 9 in theatres, but has delayed it release due to the rising cases of the novel corona virus. The new release date of the film is yet not announced. The is directed by Rumi Jafry. The film also features Krystle D’Souza, Rhea Chakraborty, Siddhanth Kapoor, Annu Kapoor, Dhritiman Chatterjee and Raghubir Yadav.
Bunty Aur Babli 2
The makers of multi starrer film ‘Bunty Aur Babli 2’ have also delayed the release of the movie in theatres. Rani Mukherjee, Saif Ali Khan, Siddhant Chaturvedi and Sharvari Wagh starrer film was slated to release on April 23. The film is the sequel of 2005 hit ‘Bunty Aur Babli’.
Taran Adarsh, Trade Analyst took to twitter to inform that the release of the film has been delayed. He tweeted, “#BreakingNews #BuntyAurBabli2 which was scheduled to release in cinemas on 23 April 2021 has been postponed.. #YRF will announce the news release date later. #SaifAliKhan #RaniMukerji #SiddhantChaturvedi #Sharvari.”
Puaada
The Punjabi rom-com movie directed by Rupinder Chahal ‘Puaada’ was set to release last year in June and later the makers announced the two release dates- March 11 and April 2 but the release of the film is postponed again. A statement was released by the makers, which is read as, “Due to the rising cases of Covid-19 and the new guidelines and also due to night curfew and weekend closures, we have decided to postpone the release of the movie until any further notice.” The film stars Ammy Virk, Sonam Bajwa, Anita Devgan and Hardeep Gill as the lead.
D Company
The action crime film of Ram Gopal Verma is also pushed for further release. Earlier, the filmmaker tweeted, “Due to the sudden severe Covid rise in many parts of the country and also amid continuous news of new lockdown, we at SPARK decided to postpone the release of D Company… A new date will be announced ASAP #DCompany @SparkSagar1.” Ashwat Kanth Sharma will be seen as the lead portraying as Gangster Dawood.
