Fans are most eager to watch Priyanka Chopra and Mindy Kaling collaborate on a romantic comedy that will focus on South Asian culture and a big, huge Indian wedding, with Kaling and Chopra portraying relatives, among other projects that the actress has in the works. In a recent interview with Forbes, Mindy shared information regarding the same.
In an interview, Kaling discussed the significance of South Asian representation and how she investigates it in her projects. She also provided specifics on how her future film starring Chopra will address the topic. She stated: “We display South Asian Americans who are of Southern Indian origin because we are really proud of it. Next, a Muslim Indian girl is displayed. We can notice how they differ from one another culturally. The culture of Asia is not uniform. If there aren’t any shows that investigate and explain this disparity, why would people necessarily know that?”
She continued by describing the parts that she and Priyanka will play in their next movie “I’m an Indian American Bengali girl from the East Coast, and Priyanka Chopra is a Punjabi Indian from India in the movie we’re in together. Because of how different it is, our relationship together is extremely enjoyable.”
In a previous interview with 2020, Mindy said how her experience working with Chopra had transformed the way she felt about India and had given her a new perspective on the country. For the South Asian portrayal in her high-school adolescent drama, Never Have I Ever, which will shortly debut its third season on Netflix, Kaling has already garnered acclaim.
