Bradley Cooper’s debut appearance as famed composer Leonard Bernstein will undoubtedly astound his admirers. As he began filming for Maestro in New York, the actor had stark white hair and wrinkles. The Netflix film is based on the life of Broadway composer Leonard Bernstein, and Bradley will direct and appear in it. Maya Hawke, Carey Mulligan, and Matt Bomer also feature in the film.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, the film will follow Leonard Bernstein and Felicia Cohn Montealegre’s complicated love affair (Carey). It’s a narrative that lasted more than 30 years, beginning when they met at a party in 1946 and going through two on-again, off-again engagements, a 25-year marriage, three children (Jamie, Alexander, and Nina), and Leonard’s own sexual orientation struggles.

Bradley’s followers reacted to his first glimpse from Maestro on Twitter as soon as the images were released. “The makeup on Bradley Cooper as Leonard Bernstein in Maestro is ridiculous,” one admirer commented. “Ok, I normally don’t like for Bradley Cooper as much, but this.” commented another. I’d see a Bradley Cooper film like this.” “Damn Bradley Cooper looks unrecognisable in Maestro,” observed another. “These cosmetics did a fantastic job,” stated another tweet. Bradley Cooper does not resemble Bradley Cooper in the least.” “I hope Bradley Cooper gets a best actor Oscar one day,” one Twitter user said. “Bradley Cooper as Leonard Bernstein seems like it may finally win him the Oscar,” another admirer commented. Maya will play Leonard Bernstein’s daughter Jamie. She is best known for her roles in Netflix’s Stranger Things and Quentin Tarantino’s film Once Upon a Time in… Hollywood. Bradley has also collaborated on the film’s script alongside Josh Singer, the Oscar-winning writer of Spotlight.

In recent months, Bradley has become increasingly interested in writing and filmmaking. Steven Spielberg was supposed to direct Maestro, but it was finally given to him. “I (told Steven Spielberg), ‘I always felt like I could play a conductor, but may I explore the subject and see if I can write it and direct it?” Bradley said earlier this year in an interview with Variety. ‘Would you mind if I did that?’ Steven has a lot of hobbies, so he’ll pick one and put the others on wait. I believe he realised he wouldn’t be able to make the film for a long time. He was gracious enough to pass it on to me, which I’ve been doing for the past four years.”
