A best-selling, cute author returns home at Christmas to settle his mother’s estate. In the process, he discovers a diary that holds secrets to his past and that of Racheal, an intriguing young woman.
The movie is based on a book of the same name by author Richard Paul Evans. As Jake, the author, goes through his mom’s possessions (she is a hoarder), he comes across a journal. Though Racheal and Jake hail from different backgrounds, yet the both of them set out on an adventure to explore their history and discover the joy Christmas will unfurl for them.
There is a spark, an instant chemistry the duo share. Though the story is around Christmas time, yet its not a typical rom-com. Directed by Charles Shyer, the movie touches deeply on human values, grief and a story of love.
The cinematography with the snow and X-mas cheer is wonderful. Justin Hartley and Barrett Doss have done a brilliant job with their roles. The journey of a man who doesn’t believe in LOVE, to a person whose is smitten by Racheal who in reality is engaged to another man, is beautiful.
If you are in the mood for romance on a cold winter night, some twists that break the heart, then this one is for you.
Streaming on Netflix, watch this Christmas delight with a warm cup of chocolate and feel good!
