Delhi High Court, in favor of Aaradhya Bachchan has passed an injuction. It is known that the daughter of Abhishek and Aishwarya Rai, approached the High Court seeking an injuction against ten youtube channels for spreading fake news about her health.

As per a report by Zoom, Aaradhya filed a petition where in 10 entities were asked to be delisted and deactivated. Google LLC and the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology have also been made parties to this case.

The law firm Anand and Naik categorically stated, “The defendants’ sole motivation is to unlawfully profit from the reputation of the Bachchan family, irrespective of the damage causing to the plaintiffs and their family members.”

Commenting on the judgement, they stated, “It is a landmark judgement on 3 counts- an injunction which upholds the privacy of a child, against disseminating false and fake news about a child which is harmful and against defamation. Children must be treated with parity-whether celebrity or otherwise-the court has said that the intermediaries should have zero-tolerance policy on such fake news which is harmful to a child same as that for child pornography.”

Abhishek Bachchan said in an interview, “While it’s completely unacceptable and something that I will not tolerate. I’m a public figure, that’s fine, my daughter is out of bounds. If you have anything to say, come and say it to my face.”

This is the first time the court has passed such an order that ensures the rights of the celebrity kids are well protected. The court has directed Google/ YouTube to give details of the infringers such as contact number, email id, etc.
