On September 18, veteran actor Anupam Kher will be awarded an Honorary Doctorate in Hindu Studies by The Hindu University of America in Manhattan, New York. The Hindu University of America is a non-profit public charitable education institution with the aim of providing education in knowledge systems based on Hindu thinking that includes critical inquiry, ethics, and self-reflection.
Kher said that he accepted the university’s offer “It is an honor to be the first recipient of the Hindu University of America’s Honorary Doctorate degree. I feel that we may learn and comprehend the value of harmony and acceptance via Hinduism. With the Doctorate, I hope to spread the same message of peace even further.” Aside from starring in over 500 films and 100 plays around the world, the veteran actor has won two National Film Awards, the IIFA Award for Outstanding Achievement in Indian Cinema, has been nominated for the prestigious British Academy Film Awards (BAFTA), and has a record-breaking streak of eight consecutive Filmfare Awards wins.

Meanwhile, Anupam had received the Best Actor prize at the New York City International Film Festival in May for his short film ‘Happy Birthday,’ which was another feather in his crown. At the renowned film festival, the short also won the Best Short Film award. Anupam and Aahana Kumra collaborated for the second time after appearing in the highly acclaimed film ‘The Accidental Prime Minister’ in 2019. ‘Shiv Shastri Balboa,’ ‘The Last Show,’ ‘Mungilal Rocks,’ and ‘The Kashmir Files’ are among the legendary actor’s next projects, in addition to ‘Happy Birthday.’
