In Bollywood, there has long been a preconception that female actresses can’t be friends or even support one another. It’s unclear if this is based on reality or simply a sexist attitude. Despite this, there have been instances in which actresses have applauded and even supported one another’s works. The most recent instance came last month, when Kiara Advani and Kangana Ranaut met at Karan Johar’s party and created a video requesting that fans watch the other actor’s film.

Both Kangana Ranaut’s Dhaakad and Kiara Advani’s Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2 were released on May 20, and both stars insisted that there was no animosity between them. In a recent interview, Kiara discussed females in the film business standing up for each other or becoming friends.

“Whenever I see a modern film, and if I really enjoy it, I’ll obtain her number to tell her how fantastic she was, even if I don’t know her,” she told Cosmopolitan India. That has occurred to me as well, when other actresses, even ones I don’t know, have contacted out to tell me how much they appreciated my work. Receiving such encouragement is quite encouraging. Each of us is a source of inspiration for the other. When I see someone perform brilliantly, it just inspires me to go better…to push myself farther, to take risks, to branch out into other genres.”

The actor went on to say that it’s critical for women to encourage one another in the workplace. “There is nothing greater than women supporting women,” Kiara stated. It improves one’s mood. Because we are going through or have gone through comparable situations, we understand each other. Who will root for each other if we don’t?”

Kiara is next expected to appear in Jugjugg Jeeyo. Varun Dhawan, Anil Kapoor, and Neetu Kapoor also feature in the comedy. The film is directed by Raj Mehta and will be released in theatres on June 24.
