IU is known to be one of the most hardworking and kind-hearted k-pop idols. She is known for her grand donations and soft spirit. On all her important days, she makes sure to spread some happiness by donating huge sums for a good cause.
As she celebrated 13 years since her debut, she didn’t let the fans down. Her 13th debut anniversary was celebrated in the best way possible. IU donated ₩850 million KRW (about $723,000 USD) worth of goods to numerous charities and organizations. These were organisations that worked for the betterment of the underprivileged industry. According to a press release from IU’s agency EDAM Entertainment, the idol collaborated with some companies and ad agencies and managed to donate 850 million KRW. The full list of donations is as follows:
- 1,000 pairs of New Balance sneakers to teenagers who are nearing the end of their allowed time at shelters
- 2,000 Banolim pizzas for children and teenagers in shelters
- 2,000 coats and winter gear from BLACKYAK for children and teenagers in shelters ahead of the winter season
- 300 Evezari blanket and bedding sets to health centres
- 2,000 first aid kits from Kyungdong Pharmaceutical to health centres
- 30,000 bottles of Jeju Samdasoo Water to health centres
