On Monday, October 25, the 67th National Film Awards were held. M Venkaiah Naidu, Vice President, handed the prizes to the winners this year. Kangana Ranaut and Manoj Bajpayee are among the honorees.
For her roles in Manikarnika: Queen of Jhansi and Panga, Kangana received the Best Actress Award. The actress stepped up to the podium and accepted her prize, draped in a traditional saree. This is her fourth time winning a National Award. She previously received Best Actress Awards for Queen and Tanu Weds Manu Returns, as well as Best Supporting Actress for her work in Fashion.
Manoj Bajpayee, who won the Best Actor Award for his role in Bhonsle, stood just behind her. For his portrayal in Asuran, Tamil actor Dhanush won the Best Actor Award. Rajinikanth, meantime, received the Dadasaheb Phalke Award for his contributions to Indian film. Aishwarya R Dhanush (Dhanush’s wife and Rajinikanth’s daughter) accompanied Rajinikanth and Dhanush on the red carpet.
In March, the National Awards for 2021 were revealed. The renowned awards event honored the year’s top films. Due to the Covid-19 outbreak, the annual awards were postponed.
While Kangana and Manoj won acting accolades, Sushant Singh Rajput’s last theatrical production Chhichhore took home the prize for best Hindi film. Asuran won Best Tamil Film while Jersey got Best Telugu Film in the regional languages. Super Deluxe’s Vijay Sethupathi took home the award for Best Supporting Actor.
The National Film Award for Best Feature Film went to Marakkar: Arabikadalinte Simham (Marakkar: Lion of the Arabian Sea), a Malayalam film. Priyadarshan wrote and directed the film, which also stars Mohanlal. The actor was in attendance at the awards ceremony.
However, Pallavi Joshi received two Oscars for The Tashkent Files: Dialogue Writer and Best Supporting Actress.
