Vishal Bhardwaj’s spy thriller ‘Khufiya’, is based on Amar Bhushan’s novel ‘Escape to Nowhere’. The movie starts beautifully, had me all engrossed but after a while, it loses its charm.
Streaming on Netflix, the movie delves into the world of espionage, action, intrigue and suspense. RAW agents are on a mission to unearth the mole. The performances in the movie are stellar and Tabu stands tall in her role.
The storyline and concept of the money is done and dusted, nothing new there. However, the movie is well executed. Wamiqa Gabbi leaves an indelible mark with her performance and I loved her dance.
The movie moves swiftly, Tabu’s presence kept me engrossed but after the interval, in some parts the movie drags. Besides the thrill of the spy web, the movie has a humane angle, what their jobs do to their personal lives. Tabu had a beautiful son, but could never be there for him. Akul Kulkari, has a brief but powerful role as her ex-husband and Ali Fazal stands out as the RAW agent who is letting out the nation’s secrets.
The movie evokes mixed feelings, I liked it but could have been better, yet I suggest you watch it.
