Bollywood has thrived on the notion that female actors can’t be friends and don’t support each other. Whether this is a biased opinion or based on facts, no one really knows. But despite such apprehensions, there have been times when actresses have really stood by their counterparts and even promoted each other’ s movies. The most recent example has been of Kiara Advani and Kangana Ranaut when the duo met at Karan Johar’s birthday bash and made a video asking fans to watch the other actor’s film.
Kangana has very rarely seen eye to eye with several members of the film industry. The outspoken actress is known for her blunt opinions and that is the reason she has very few friends in the industry. She adds, “These people don’t want to praise me. Sometimes, I feel there is no lobby but people have a lot of their own insecurities. The other day Kira met and praised me. She said to watch both the films (Dhakad and Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2). I don’t think there is pressure. I always say everyone is a feminist till they actually see a woman rise. It hurts a bit. I went to a Bollywood party (Arpita Khan’s Eid bash)and everyone was only talking about the trailer. When you are so impressed by a trailer-all of you-why is it so hidden then?”
Kangana is all set to be seen in Dhakad, her first female-led spy action thriller.
Kiara comments, “There is nothing better than women supporting women. It uplifts one s morale. We understand each other because we go through or have gone through similar experiences. And if we don’t root for each other, who will?”
