Kriti Sanon had a good year with two movies, ‘Hum Do Hamare Do’ and ‘Mimi,’ and is gearing up for the release of her and Akshay Kumar blockbuster ‘Bachchhan Paandey’ on March 18. Both films were warmly accepted by the public, and in ‘Mimi,’ Kriti played the lead role and effectively carried the picture. The actress is now reaping the benefits of the attention, fame, and opportunities that have come her way. She did, however, discuss the fears that male actors have when women play roles that are little chunkier than their own.

“There are very, very few who would let others share screen space equally,” Kriti told the Indian Express when asked about the situation. I’ve been in circumstances where most males refused to make a film in which I played 60% of the part and a male actor played 40%. Nobody was willing to take the risk. So, obviously, I believe that these things need to change. In Atrangi Re, Akshay performed a fantastic job. It was a little role, but it was enjoyable. Akshay isn’t afraid of anyone and does his job honestly.”

“After filming Bareilly Ki Barfi, 99 per cent of the films coming to me were small town pictures in same genre,” Kriti said of finally getting recognized by filmmakers and writers after previously being type casted. And now it’s fantastic to get to the stage where people ask me, “What type of film do you want to make?” This was something I had never done before this year. I can now tell people what I want to accomplish with my life, what universe I’d like to enter, or that I’d like to play a grey character. This is a really welcome change. It might happen so gradually that you aren’t even aware.”
