One fine morning, Julia Roberts finds herself unable to sleep. In an impromptu act, she books a villa by the beach for her family to stay clear of the world and have some time to chill. Her husband, Clay, a professor loves holidays and the kids, Archie and her daughter, accompany them.

They family are chilling by the beach when their daughter Rosie, notices an oil tanker closing in on the shore. Lo and behold! It actually hits the surface and the entire population on the beach is running. They rush back home to enjoy a quiet evening and there is a sudden knock. The owner of the villa is at the doorstep and tells them of a sudden blackout in the city. They request the couple to bear with them for a night.

They slowly realize there’s no wi-fi, the town seems deserted and everything goes downhill from here on. As the story progresses, both the families get closer to each other and decide to stick together in the circumstances. Julia likes to be alone but through this trying time, she is forced to rethink her attitude and prejudices against people.

It is based on Rumaan Alam’s 2020 novel, Leave the world Behind and I loved the pace of the movie, very quick, never a dull moment. In the face of crisis and an unheard situation, the characters each stand tall and play their parts well. I enjoyed this movie thoroughly on Netflix.
