The second season of Mismatched was released on Friday on Netflix. The verdict for the show is that it is watchable, entertaining but only to a point. The music is good, and the romantic chemistry deserves praise yet the dialogue delivery, lazy storytelling and melodrama make it a tough watch and leaves the audience frustrated.

To elaborate, in the series Dimple, played by Prajakta Kohli has lost her app, despite her being a genius, hence proving genius does not mean commercially minded. Meanwhile, Rohit Saraf alias Rishi, a die hard romantic, has lost his faith in love.

Unfortunately, this season does not keep up to the high hopes of its predecessor. The characters look miserable, the communication between the two has gone done miserably and there is constant bickering and untimely judgements that has soured their relationship.

The characters though have matured from Season 1. There human side is touching. Topics such as mental and sexual health, homophobia, bullying, social media toxicity and more unfolds beautifully in this series. However, the characters find their solace to problems on the Internet. Google searches like “how to handle a panic attack” and “how to be super skinny in 4 days” have their full attention.

Prajakta Kohli continues to grow as an actor, and she has done a great job. Rohit Saraf is the desired boy but has an angry young man trait this time. Vihaan Samat gets more in this season and brings out the vulnerability well.

Overall, it’s a rom-com series which could be better. The 8 episodes series on Netflix, continues to be a wasted opportunity.
