A heart wrenching, soul moving movie, that shook me to my soul. Rani has aced the character of Mrs. Chatterjee/ Sagarika. It is said that Rani did not meet Sagarika before the movie as she did not want to get carried away by her feelings. When they finally met at a press conference, one can see on the net how she turns her face away as Sagarika comes on stage.

The scene when Rani is carried away by the police stirs the viewers soul. This was a helpless ‘Ma’ being parted from her young siblings and for what?

The dialogues of Rani are apt. the way she says, “Karunga” in the authentic Bengali diction is amazing. The glances and the conversations she has with Jim Sarabh through her eyes, speak volumes of the unspoken saga.

The character of “Anirban” brings out hatred. Each character has helped shaped the story well. Ashima Chibber you have done a wonderful job!! The story of a mother fighting an entire nation to reclaim custody of her children is a true emotional account of a mother’s bleeding saga.

The movie released in the theatres on March 17th and is still pulling the audience. The movie is an adaptation based on the autobiography titled ‘The Journey of a Mother’ and is based on the events that occurred in 2011 where a mother is deemed unfit to look after her children.
