The high quotient that every South Asian family story needs is some dancing and singing at a wedding and of course, Ms. Marvel is no different.
This Wednesday, as the third episode of the Disney plus Marvel Cinematic Universe series was released, the fans were exuberant to watch a desi wedding with Bollywood music and many took to social media to express their joy!!!
The series is the story of a Pakistani-American girl, who has superpowers. In the 3rd episode, Kamala’s brother gets married and the show includes a long desi wedding sequence with AR Rahman, Coke Studio, Riz Ahmed, and Jalebi Baby.
It all begins with a mehndi scene, with Amir’s shoes being stolen, and not just one pair but all of them. The music for the scene was the song, “Joote do Paise Lo” and then followed the wedding and a reception cum sangeet party where in Kamala’ s family put on a show with dance performances and guess what music played??? Yeh Mera Dil from the movie Don for the parents and Dil Bole Hadippa for Kamala and her cousins.
The fans have gone gaga over the desi wedding and even though there are many flaws in the sequence, as in, the bride and groom never sit next to each other at a traditional Nikaah and the Sangeet takes place before it, not after. However, many fans responded by calling these “creative liberties”.
Ms Marvel stars Iman Vellani as Kamala, while her family is played by a trio of Indian actors, Mohan Kapur, Zenobia Shroff , Saagar Shaikh , Farhan Akhtar and Fawad Khan are a part of this six episode series.
