When the Covid-19 pandemic hit Maharashtra in March 2020, physical education classes were cancelled in schools. And now the decision regarding the reopening of schools will be made in November, amid fears of a possible third wave of the COVID-19 pandemic in Maharashtra. According to reports, if the third wave does not hit Maharashtra, the school will be reopened in a phased manner.

Despite the fact that schools have opened in a number of cities, special precautions are being taken to protect children from the deadly virus. And, while everyone is wondering when Mumbai’s schools will reopen, the city mayor, Kishori Pednekar, told ANI, “The decision on reopening of schools in Mumbai and surrounding areas will be taken after Diwali”.

A task force had previously presented standard operating procedures for reopening schools across Maharashtra. Both teaching and non-teaching staff should be fully vaccinated, according to the expert panel.

Dr. NK Arora, who heads the National Technical Advisory Group on Immunization’s (NTAGI) working group, warned last month that parents and other family members of school students should get themselves vaccinated against Covid-19.

During the Ganpati festival, the Mumbai Police Department also urged people to follow the COVID-19 protocol in the city. The Mumbai police took to Twitter to share a post with different names of Lord Ganesha, including Mangalmurti, Gajanana, Siddhivinayaka, Ganesha, Bhalchandra, Lambodara, Pitambara, and Ekdanta, as well as a reminder to “Take Care” during the festival, as all of Lord Ganesha’s names convey the same message.
