‘The day we start advocating our own people, that is the day we will begin to succeed… If it doesn’t affect me, I’ll be lying,’ Ali Fazal says when asked how he feels about statements dubbing him a ‘blink and miss’ character in his Hollywood roles, including his most recent, ‘Death on The Nile.’ With the rich commercial and content-driven films and shows that he chooses to work on, Ali has carved out a niche for himself. The actor has made a name for himself in both Bollywood and Hollywood. As his new film, ‘Death on The Nile,’ is set to be released, Ali discussed his experiences in Hollywood, as well as his marriage to Richa Chadha.
I’m quite flattered. I’m honored that people are anticipating it. People have noticed how popular this film has gotten around the world. At fact, just two days ago, we were sitting in the British Museum, dining with the entire ensemble, and just talking about how big of a release it is, especially given it comes so soon after the pandemic. It’s possibly my largest release to date.
This wedding, I believe, is taking place between the media and me. (Laughs). Every three months or so, a paparazzo brings up this subject and claims that it occurs because Richa and I haven’t been ‘peetoing any dindoras’ (yelling from the rooftops) about it. We’re just taking our time because the epidemic has caused a lot of initiatives to be delayed. In due time, we will make an official announcement about our wedding.
I am unable to speak for her. I’m hoping she said something positive. (Laughs) Richa’s work has always appealed to me. It’s been a life-enriching experience for me in many aspects of life. That, I believe, is the widest explanation I can give. I’m not going to get too specific. It’s a part of my own existence. I’d prefer to maintain it that way.
