Ponniyin Selvan has surpassed the 400 Cr threshold and is slowly making progress toward joining the 500 Cr club. The movie has earned more than $400 million globally, claims trade expert Ramesh Bala. After Rajinikanth’s 2.0 and Kamal Haasan’s Vikram, Mani Ratnam’s magnum opus is the third movie to break this milestone. The second installment is anticipated to premiere in April 2023. Nearly 60 to 80 percent of the shoot has already been completed, according to the team.

All eyes are currently focused on this multi-OTT starrer’s release. Amazon Prime apparently purchased the streaming rights from producer Lyca for a record-breaking 125 Cr. According to sources, the movie will debut on OTT on November 4.

Aishwarya Lekshmi, Vikram, Aishwarya Rai, Jayam Ravi, Karthi, Trisha, Jayaram, Ashwin Kakumanu, R. Sarathkumar, R. Parthiban, Prabhu, Prakash Raj, and Rahman are just a few of the several A-list actors that appear in Ponniyin Selvan. The composer is AR Rahman.

The film’s expectations are very high considering its enormous $500 billion budget. Based on the 1955 novel of the same name by author Kalki Krishnamurthy, Ponniyin Selvan is a two-part historical fiction.

The first book was divided into five parts. Crown prince Aditha Karikalan (Vikram), the protagonist of the tale, sends his most dependable commander Vandiyathevan (Karthi), to retrieve his brother Arulmozhi Varman (Jayam Ravi) from Lanka.
