Filmmaker Pradeep Sarkar, passed away on Friday at the age of 68 in the wee hours of the morning. Best known for directing movies like Parineeta, Helicopter Eela and Mardaani, director Hansal Mehta shared the news on Twitter, “Pradeep Sarkar. Dada. RIP.”
Ajay Devgn added, “The news of Pradeep Sarkar’s demise, ‘Dada’ to some of us is hard to digest. My deepest condolences. My prayers are with the departed and his family. RIP Dada.”
Several members of the film fraternity showed up to pay their last respects for the departed soul and meet the family. The funeral was held at 4pm at the Santacruz Hindu crematorium. Deepika Padukone, Vidya Balan with husband Sidharth Roy Kapur, Rani Mukherji, Dia Mirza, Vidhu Vinod Chopra, Rhea Chakroborty and several others attended the funeral.
Rani Mukherjee said she had a talk with him a few days ago when he called her to congratulate the actress for her latest film, Mrs. Chatterjee vs Norway..
He was admitted to the ICU of Lilavati hospital. He had a fever and by the time they reached the hospital, his vitals were dropping. He was put on a ventilator and his lungs were getting affected. Ever since covid hit him in July 2022, he was quite weak.
The filmmaker started his journey as an ad-film maker and directed several advertisements for prominent brands across the country. He also directed music videos like Sultan Khan’s “Piya Basanti” and Shubha Mudgal’s “Ab Ke Saawan.”
