The latest SonyLiv series, ‘Rocket Boys’, focusses on the lives of Indian scientists Homi J Bhabha and Vikram Sarabhai is a real eye-opener and it’s second season premiered on March 16th. It highlights the role of our scientists in creating milestones in the progress of Indian research and development.

Amongst all the fiction available on OTT, this real life series is definitely worth a watch. The show is set between 1940’s and 1960’s and covers the journey of India’s scientific programs towards rocket and space research led by Dr. Vikram Sarabhai and the nuclear research led by Dr. Homi J Bhabha.

Jim Sarbh dons the character of Homi and plays his part to perfection. Having the right actor to play the part is like half the job done! He has the flamboyance and the temperament the character demands. Ishwak Singh has the grace and tenderness and the two are the opposites of one another, yet great friends. Ragina Cassandra, played by Mrinalini Sarabhai, is the Bharatnatyam expert.

The storytelling of the season is par excellence. It kept me so involved that at several points ‘google baba’ came to my rescue as I was so interested to learn more. After successfully stepping into the Indian Space Program, the pioneer scientists are set to explore the world of nuclear power and take India to a new zenith, where no one can challenge our sovereignity. The duo convinced the then Prime Minister of the importance of a nuclear test which was eventually conducted in Pokhran in May, 1974.

IMBD has rated the show as 8.9/10 and it’s really a wonderful and engrossing TV Series.
